Program Requirements

Graduates from middle schools

Current students in grades 10, 11 and 12 (or current students in the International Baccalaureate Diploma Program (IBDP), O-level)

Program Introduction

These courses are designed for students who have not obtained a high school diploma in their home country.

Students who complete Ontario High School courses will receive an Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD), and can also apply to Canadian and international universities. The main high school course areas include: Business, Sciences, English, Mathematics, Arts, Social Science and Computer Science.

In order to receive an OSSD, students must obtain 30 secondary school course credits (which include 18 compulsory courses and 12 optional courses). Students must also complete the required 10 community involvement hours and pass the Ontario Secondary School Literacy Test (OSSLT). International students will also have courses from their previous high schools assessed for equivalent credits.

Students who have not graduated high school or who cannot apply to universities in the absence of a high school diploma from their home country, are urged to select these Ontario secondary school courses. These courses are also suitable for students wishing to use their OAIE ENG4U grades in place of English Proficiency Test scores for university admittance.

Program Features

Based on the standards set by the Ontario Ministry of Education, courses taken in the students home countries can be transferred for credits that are required by the OSSD.

Courses are a total of 110 hours and it can be taken in the morning, afternoon or evening. The schedule and start date is flexible as well, which helps our students optimize their energy and time.

Students can take 12 credits per year.

Our Academic Guidance Counsellor will help students one-on-one and facilitate their personal study plan.

Credit Transfer

For credit transfers, the school will evaluate courses taken in our international students home country, requiring at minimum, a complete and official transcript. The school will compare the completed courses with Canadian courses, and evaluate the number of equivalent credits for which the student can be granted. The following chart shows an estimation of transferred credits for different grades. Note: this chart is for reference only. Final decisions are made when students present their official transcript to the school.
